Technical Training

This training session is an in-depth and highly practical session aimed at technical installers and engineers who are required to install, program and maintain the hardware and software elements of the Sensor GuardPoint Pro access control system.

Itinerary

– The courses start promptly at 9:30am and finish around 4pm
– Training is held in our facility in Brighton, East Sussex
– There is plenty of opportunity for our trainer to check understanding and develop skills of engineers as needed
– Lunch is provided at 12:30, together with a morning and afternoon tea and coffee break

A certificate is issued on completion of the training course which authorises the individual engineer to receive ongoing technical support free of charge from the Sensor technical department.

 

GuardPoint Pro Technical Training Course Outline

Hardware

An overview of the types of Sensor controllers to understand their different purposes and capabilities. Practical element includes wiring and configuration setup

Software

Practical programming and overview of the first software installation. The purposes of different database types: Microsoft Access and MSSQL. The purposes of the GuardPointPro server and workstations setups

Communication and Set-up

A practical exercise to establish communications between controllers and PC using RS232 and RS485 cabling. Troubleshooting communication problems; including the use of the GuardPointPro diagnostic window. Alternative methods of communicating with controllers i.e. TCP/IP, configuration and explanation of various types of readers and their transmission formats

Access Control Basics

Creating new cardholders and assigning badges. Setting up access groups and daily and weekly programs. Explanation of different transaction types: access granted, access denied and reason codes. Configuring ‘door properties’: inputs and outputs, security levels and anti-pass back

System Features

Linking events with user-defined actions. Setting up and configuring reports including a roll call. Adding and customising ‘user-defined actions’ to the toolbar on GuardPointPro. Backing up and securing the GuardPoint Pro software, together with creating customisable user log-ins and the set up of user specific authorisation for viewing and editing the system. Badge design and printing.
