Safe Guarding against Covid-19

Posted in News

Creating healthy and safe environments is now a key requirement in helping people return to work and re-start their normal activities.
To improve and help safeguard against Covid-19 or any infectious virus sensor access controls systems can provide the following solutions:

  • Room capacity monitoring.
  • Touchless door operation.
  • Temperature detection.

Capacity Monitoring

It is very important now to ensure people have sufficient space to be able to maintain the current guideline of 2 meters apart from each other. This is where capacity counting can play an important role to prevent overcrowding of a space.
Within the Guardpoint10 there is a highly configurable module called “Areas” This allows spaces (buildings, rooms, etc.) which can be defined for monitoring the occupancy.  Capacity can be set to each area which in turn can trigger a configurable action. The action could be to stop allowing more people in or send an alert email, many options are available.

The screenshot below showing the area module in GuardPoint10:

Touchless Door Operation

Reducing the points of human contact on a door will reduce the point of cross-contamination. Proximity readers are contact-less but exit buttons usually are not. Therefore we are offering a capacitive exit button “ETC-1” which has an advantage over infrared versions as it is more accurate and not as affected by smoke, dust, fog, sunlight, etc

The ETC-1 can detect your hand up to a range of 5 cm from the button and has a mechanical override in case of power failure

Temperature Detection

Facial recognition readers have been around for a while but recently this is now being combined with a thermal recognition camera.
The thermal sensor allows the reader to measure the body temperature at the same as doing facial verification. This helps companies to stop any employee or visitor who is exhibiting high body temperature from entering the building and therefore protecting the people inside the premises from possible infection.

FRS-1T

8“ Thermal Facial recognition reader with either Wiegand output. Supports temperature detection via thermal imaging, live detection and Automatic light compensation.
